I almost went there. I think I looked around it. That must have been… about five years ago now. Man I feel old!
I went to Bournemouth in the end. Good times. I miss those days a hell of a lot. Stay in education as long as you possibly can, that’s my advice!
What sort of stuff do they have you writing?

lol, bournemouth is meant to be really good. what you do now you left? atm we have to write a single drama for television and filming short films. we’ve had to write for films, drama documentarys – (that was bit boring), adaptions from books and comedies thats all we done so far. A lot of our course is writing essays on different film theorys and researching.

Bournemouth was good and I learned a lot, however they could have fit it all into two years (one if they tried), so I felt that they really wanted me more for my money.
Since I left I’ve moved in with some friends from my course in Bristol to be close to the media hub. We’ve not yet cracked it, but that’s not through lack of trying. I’ve been writing scripts, reviews and stories evrry day since I graduated and I still love it, which is good.
Your course sounds very similar to mine, although we didn’t cover documentarys, adaptations or comedies. We got to study them, but not write them, which was always a shame. Could have turned in a great Resident Evil film.
The essays are easily the worst part! There were only a few I really enjoyed, but even then I had to force them into fitting a scope I could write about. My dissertation went really well, too.
Do you have many people on your course? Supposedly scriptwriting gets busier every year.

sounds good, yeah just got to keep trying. All we kept getting told is what a difficult industry it is to get into
. We got about 25 on the course now cos a few dropped out last year as they felt the course just wasnt for them.

Don’t sweat it, that’s all we were told too. It is a damned hard industry to get into, you just need to keep your head up and keep plugging away at it. That’s the difficult bit!
Only 25? That’s surprising. On my course there were just over forty after two people dropped out.
