The blind side

I was excited to go and watch The blind side seeing as Sandra Bullock won best actress for the film. So it had big expectations to live up too, it achieved them and far more. It was an emotional and heartwarming story. Sandra Bullocks character Leigh is a fiesty lady, who takes no nonsense when it comes to her work and family. However we see a caring and loving nature when she takes Michael into her life and makes him part of her family. The characters were well defined throughout the film, this allowed the audience to bond with them. The relationship bewteen Leigh and Michael was beautiful to watch, and is a film about self discovery/development. The plot was great, bit predictable perphaps but neither less its a must watch film. It was very heavy on the american football however that is the large part of the story so that was to be expected. My favorite character has to be SJ, I expect we will be seeing Jae Head who plays SJ in many more films as he was a great little actor in the making. The only lows in the film was the slow start and it seemed to dragging its heels when it can to the conclusion. We can all learn something from this film, we can learn that sometimes you have to take a risk in life, whether its about a person, career or love. The risk can pay off big time and give you endless rewards, so be brave… x x

Shutter Island and I love you phillip Morris!
Ive been to see both of these films recently, i’ll talk about Shutter island first. I found the plot a little confusing at times however if you continue through the “rough” faze it all becomes clear at the end and includes some brillant twists. The main twist is rather apparent and obvious though, even from the first time i saw the trailer. DiCaprio portrays the character well and is really believable in the role and his best film since Titanic in my opinion. I like films that get the audience invovled and shitter island certainly makes you think the entire time. The end scene, when teddy goes back to believing his physician is his partner once again, its heartbreaking to watch. I found myself wanting him to be better and sharing his pain as he got taken of to the lighthouse. He as great final words “is it better to live as a monster or die a good man” , which leaves the audeince with something to think about. Overall I loved the film and would highly reccommend it to anyone.
Moving onto I love you Phillip Morris, i was almost dragged to see this movie by my boyfriend. The reason i was put of this film is because of one factor, Jim Carrey. I just cant stand him, the faces he pulls and the same goofy characters he seems to portray. Anyway, i saw the film, braved 2 hours of Jim Carrey and survived
The plot was good, not great but did the job. The cons he pulled off were impressive espically him faking Aid’s, it was a good choice to let us find out the lie at the same time as phillip as it brung us closer to him and shared the emotion with him. I found myself feeling no sympathy what so ever for Steven which was a shame as I felt the audience should of been given a chance to he a different side to him instead of just the con man side. I would recommend seeing the film but only because of Ewan McGregor is excellent at playing the rile of a gay man, a role we arent used to seeing he play. My personal hatred against Jim Carrey acting hasnt changed and I believe the film would be far better wihout him.

alice in wonderland!
Went to see this saturday night and it was completly packed full of people. Everyone excited to see a new take/ almost follow up to the classic story. Since seeing it I have heard and read a wide ranges views from it was amazing to it was the one of the biggest let downs! Many critising Tim burton’s vision, but what I have to say is could you have taken on a such classic story which includes so many mush loved characters and done it as much justice?! least he had the balls to do it and do it with such style! The characters oozed of fairytale personalities which was nothing but magical because alice in wonderland was and still is a fairytale – people seem to have forgotten this fact! So to those who go out and watch a fairytale film and then slag it off beacuse they normally watch sci-fi and horror films – i have one piece of advice. DONT GO AND WATCH FILMS IN A GENRE U DONT LIKE! Beacuse we dont care when you go on about how much you hate it – just go and get yourself a life, ok!
Anyway the plot was slow starting, but really picked up with she entered wonderland. The scenery was amazing and cast was outstanding. The ending when the all the people she know in really life represented a character from wonderland was a little to similar to the wizard of oz for me, this was my one big dislike about the film. Did Tim burton go as far as he could of with the film, well no. However he gave us his vision of wonderland and his portrayal, his idea of what its like will never be everyones idea of story or the place. If you only want to be submerged in your own idea of wonderland i suggest you stick to the books – if you want to open your minds to something new and exciting then watch the film.
